The Purge (2013) Synopsis :

Its the year 2022. Crime in the USA is at an all-time low of 1% thanks to an annual "Purge" that takes place over 12 hours from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am on March 21. During the Purge, people can commit any crime they wish without fear of consequence against anyone except for 'Category 10' US government officials. The emergency services are not available, so there's no ambulance, police or fire service for those targeted. Critics of the Purge say that it's used by the wealthy and politically elite to target and punish the poor as they're the only people who cant defend themselves.

James Sandin (Ethan Hawke) sells home security systems that lock down peoples houses, keeping them safe during the Purge. He's very successful and has sold security systems to all of his neighbors. As he goes home to get ready for the Purge to start, hes told that he's the number one sales person for his company. He stops just before his house to give some advice to a neighbor on maintaining a security system that he's.......

Goofs: Continuity: In the opening scenes, Mary is seen making dinner with Italian dressing on the counter. Soon after, Mary is seen reaching in the fridge after talking to Charlie and retrieves a bottle of the same Italian dressing.

Story: In an America wracked by crime and overcrowded prisons, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity-including murder-becomes legal. The police can't be called. Hospitals suspend help. It's one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking. When an intruder breaks into James Sandin's (Ethan Hawke) gated community during the yearly lockdown, he begins a sequence of events that threatens to tear a family apart.
